Study tour part two: people who made the trip great
Bonn
Mary Rose! Finally! A Filipina! I hadn't seen any Filipinos before I came to the conference. It was good to be able to speak Tagalog! Mary Rose was one of the lecturers, she was giving a talk on gender issues.
Frankfurt am Main
For those looking for Mr. Bulaong, I found him here in Germany! Haha! Jon Bulaong was my former Philosophy teacher. It was such a relief to finally have someone to talk to who really knew me. Tagalog conversation plus coffee (along the red light district LOL), plus sharing of experiences from the past and present = a truly golden experience. This was taken in the hotel that I stayed in. Thank you for the company, Jon!
Tübingen
Roann Ramos, a friend of Jon's. Behind us is the city hall, which is right in the middle of a crowded market. Anyway, Jon referred me to her when he found out that I was going to Tübingen next. On short notice, I had gained a Filipina friend! She's really nice and bubbly. we had a great chat while we were together, and even got lost trying to find the castle nearby! haha! She's staying there for a year to finish her PhD. Hope I get to see her again soon!
Our two wonderful guides:
Eka Neumann. She's a sociology major and a real master at a lot of the issues facing Germany and the world today. It was always a pleasure to have her on coffee or lunch breaks and just listen to her explain Germany and why Germans act the way that they do. This was taken when we had dinner at a nearby restaurant after the mayor's reception at Bonn.
Elke Pickartz. She's an economics reporter for Reuters in Berlin. Behind us is the castle beside Remagen bridge. Elke is really intelligent, and she made it a point to tell us as much German history as possible. She loves walking though, and there were a lot of instances she took all of us on long, tiring walks alll around wherever. She was just sooo sweet and excited about the walks that nobody had the heart to complain. LOL. @_@
Thank you to these people, they really made the trip meaningful. ^_^
